Disengage and remove starting package Disengage generator/turbine coupling. Remove excitation housing and excitation static parts. Remove outer enclosure wall panels from excitation ends. Remove outer air seal (turbine and excitation ends). Remove blower shrouds and blower blades (turbine and excitation ends). Remove bearing caps and vapor seals. Install jacking tool T6A at excitation end. Jack up rotor at excitation end to clear excitation end bearing. Remove excitation end bearing. Erect gantry, tool T6B&C to straddle excitation end bearing pedestal. Protect shaft journal and attach stirrup, tool T6B&C. Take load on stirrup. Tighten stirrup on shaft. And install spacers T6J. Remove tool T6A from excitation end and install at turbine end. Jack up rotor at turbine end to clear turbine end bearing. Remove turbine end bearing. Relax stirrup clamp on shaft and remove wooden saddle from gantry tool T6B&C. Jack up rotor to within 0.12 inches of stator bore at excitation end and turbine ends. Use tool T6A at turbine end and stirrup tool T6B&C at excitation end. 19. Re-tighten stirrup on shaft. 20. Unfasten and remove excitation end pedestal. Caution: take care when removing pedestal past installed exciter on rotor. 21. Install stator protector tool T6G, skid plate tool T6D. Coat upper surface of skid plate with paraffin and place skid plate in stator bore. Place cloths on the stator end turns and the exposed stator core protector to catch the paraffin. 22. Tie skid plate securely to prevent any possibility of relative motion of the skid plate on the protector lining. (important) 23. Insert rotor body sliding shoe tool T6 at turbine end. Ensure that sliding shoe is positively located fully over the main body iron. Do not locate over the step iron portion of the core. 24. Lower rotor on to sliding shoe. Use tool T6A and tool T6B&C. 25. Remove tool T6A from turbine end. 26. Unfasten and move turbine end bearing pedestal off the bedplate. 27. Protect exposed interior of excitation and turbine pedestals. 28. Attach support tool T6F to shaft body extension at turbine end. 29. Attach winch to gantry tool (attach to eye socket). 30. Attach sling T6H to gantry tool T6B&C at excitation end. (Caution take care to avoid contact with excitation on rotor). Hook on to crane. 31. Take excitation end load on crane. 32. Slide rotor towards excitation end until journal support reaches first step iron increment. Caution: insure journal support does not impact step iron. Caution

Sliding shoe must be aligned axially with great care. If on pulling rotor through the stator core the rotor coupling begins to rotate. This is an indication that either the sliding shoe is not aligned correctly, or that the rotor pulling direction is no in a straight line with the core. Failure to correct either condition may cause the rotor to roll of the shoe and cause damage to the core. 33. Ensure that shaft body extension support tool T6F Is fully over the main body iron. 34. Place cribbing CT1 & block rotor gantry tool. With the rotor temporarily supported by cribbing disconnect crane sling T6H. 35. With the rotor resting on the cribbing remove rotor sling T6H and attach to rotor from outside of enclosure wall to make a single point lift. 36. With main lifting slings T6H secured on rotor, withdraw rotor from the stator. 37. Remove gantry tool, T6B, and support tool T6F. 38. Rotor is now ready for transportation away from unit.
