THE FLIPPED WORKSHOP PROCESS

1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Pre-assign a small workshop group of 5-6 students. Each writer drafts story on google docs/drive. Each writer recites draft orally and posts the audio to soundcloud. Every student critiques all other student stories (using distributed criteria or leading questions). In-line comments (aka marginal notes) can be performed on either google or soundcloud (wise to split the duties equally by assigning these roles in advance). All students also type summative comments on separate document and bring to workshop for oral sharing. Summative critiques are shared methodically, orally, in turn around table, while author of manuscript silently takes notes. [A set amount of time for delivering these is strictly followed (e.g. 2 minutes max each).] After all critics have spoken, the author of manuscript asks the group follow-up questions and general discussion about story issues commences. The next manuscript is critiqued as #s 7-8 above.
