India is the largest producer of fruits and second largest producer of vegetables in the world.In spite of that per capita availability of fruits and vegetables is quite low because of postharvest losses, which account for about 25% to 30% of production. Besides, quality of a sizable quantity of produce also deteriorates by the time it reaches the consumer. This is mainly because of perishable nature of the produce, which requires a cold chain arrangement to maintain the quality and extend the shelf life if consumption is not met immediately after harvest. In the absence of a cold storage and related cold chain facilities, the farmers are being forced to sell their produce immediately after harvest which results in glut situations and low price realization.

This is primarily what has made me consider the proposed business plan to set up an up-to-date modern cold storage plant under the name Gonda Adhunik Sheetagaar Pvt Ltd. at Gonda, UP. There is no cold storage nearby the location I have shortlisted and the cultivation of potatoes & other vegetables is relatively much higher. Farmers have to bear high transport costs to take their produce for cold storage to far off places. My plan is to provide them quality cold storage facilites locally and obviously at a considerably lower cost.

The total paid up capital in the first phase is Rs. 53100000 which will be raised from various sources and Gonda Adhunik Sheetagaar Pvt Ltd. will be promulgated in 2014 by Mr. Shiv Bhajan Yadav as a life time director of the company.
