My name is Fernando Rocha. I am 21 years old and live in Belo Horizonte, Brasil. Between the ages of 6 – 12 I was homeless and lived on the streets. Life was very hard. I saw many friends end up in jail or be killed. When I was 12 years old some people from a church brought me to a house for street boys and I came to know God. He changed my way of living. I went from a hopeless life of drugs and crime to a life of faith and hope in Jesus Christ. (Galatians 5:5-6) This change happened because people invested in my life. Now I work in a program called Masters Commission (MCUMI) that works to save the lives of other street kids. As part of my character building process, I go with a team to the slums where we play games with the children and give food to the adults. This helps them learn about God. Through Masters Commission peoples’ lives are changed. (Romans 12:2) Before I learned about God I didn’t have any expectations for my life. Now I have a dream to run a house for street boys, to teach them about God and to help them have a life of faith and hope. If it can be done for me, it can be done for others.
