UPK: AN END-TO-END ORACLE IMPLEMENTATION TOOL
3 / 8
The ‘P’ Is for Productivity
Heard of UPK? Think it's only for training? Guess again. Oracle’s UPK allows you to jumpstart your implementation andadd value throughout the project lifecycle. You can use UPK from the requirements gathering phase all the way to end-user education. This white paper will help you learn to use UPK R12 baseline content to define business requirements, detail gaps, and ensure that all of your materials have a uniform look and feel. You’ll also discover how to create testscripts for CRPs and UAT, and how to convert these into eLearning content for end-user training. Discover how UPK isno longer “just a training tool.”
Just What is This “User Productivity Kit?”
You may have heard of UPK and how it can benefit your organization’s training efforts. What you may not haveconsidered, however, is how UPK can help you throughout an Oracle implementation. Most people consider UPK a training tool because it is used for creating eLearning software simulations thatdemonstrate software navigation and software functions. eLearning content is an electronic (web-based) media used todistribute re-useable training. eLearning courses are bite-sized learning chunks that can be grouped to create modulesof materials. In simple terms, UPK records a screenshot and an action performed in any Oracle E-Business Suite module.Subsequently, it allows you to edit the topic and publish it in multiple formats. The formats can be used to createsoftware demonstrations that are interactive as well as quizzes that are used to ascertain user knowledge.UPK eLearning simulations can be published into four formats that can all be played on the learner’s computer from anyinternet browser. These formats include See It, Try It, Know It, and Do It.
See It mode is essentially a movie where no learner interaction needs to take place. The movie plays based ontimings setup in the editor.
Try It mode allows the users to follow the onscreen instructions and complete the simulation using the learnerinteractions.
Know It mode allows the learners to test their knowledge of the transaction.
Do It mode provides performance support to the learners while in the live system. They can complete theirwork functions with the help of the simulation to prompt them or display tips.In addition to UPK eLearning simulations, you can publish the edited topic to Word or PDF format to create a job aid, training guide, process, test script and even a document for uploading into HP.
A Job Aid is a basic step by step guide for the task.
The Training Guide and Instructor Manual both produce a manual that can be printed and used for instructorled training. The instructor guide has additional notes.
A System Process explains the business process and lists the procedure steps
