OVERVIEW & RATIONALE
Students will imagine that they are now power eBay sellers specializing in garagesale/estate sale type items on eBay. Students will select three to five different items from their home to createsales materials to use on eBay. If they choose not use items from their home, then they will attend garage salesuntil they have pictures of three to five items they would like to pretend to sell on eBay. Once the students haveselected the items, they will create descriptions, photographs, and promotional materials with the goal to drivetraffic to their eBay listings. They will present their strategy for selling their items in a presentation style format tolocal eBay power sellers or before an audience that has had success with selling items on eBay.The students will be expected to design a promotion for each of their items they plan to list. Additionally, studentswill be required to research the given market to properly price their items. While going through the process of selecting items, design promotions, researching the market and finally pricing the items, students will be keeping a journal narrating their progression. Finally, students will present their products, promotions and prices in apresentation explaining how they decided each piece. How do you successfully market a product?
At the culmination of the unit, students will possess the ability to effectively market a product.Specifically student will be required to use the marketing knowledge gained from their Think-Pair-Share activity-identify the four P’s, informal market research survey and other tasks completed in different lessons. Students willbenefit from being able to create and understand marketing behind selling items on eBay and apply the conceptsof marketing to other companies and businesses. The student’s skill set will be vastly improved by the lessonbecause they will now have insight into how marketers sell things, and they will also acquire the ability to puttogether a basic marketing plan for a small businesses product.By completing these performance indicators students will be prepared to successfully market a product:
