Romeo & Juliet Summative Assessment Task

New Moon by Stephenie Meyer in the famous Series of Twilight which reflects the contrasting elements and the theme of the play by similar story line, Characters, the theme of death marked love , hate and love and many more. For example in the prologue at they both talk about the theme of death mark'd love because Bella is trying to save someone she loves, "I knew I was too lateand I was glad something bloodthirsty waited in the wings. For in failing at this, I forfeited any desire to live. The clock tolled again, and the sun beat down from the exact center point of the sky." This also connects to faith because the author is saying that her faith is to die if she does not save the person she loves. In Romeo and Juliet's Prologue says that there that they are destined to die because of their parent's hate, the Volturi in New moon is powerful like their parents and both are doing something that is against the rule or expectations which cause conflict.

New moon is the second book in the series, this book is briefly about Edward leaving thinking he is dangerous to Bella, She is really heart broken and she started hanging out with Jacob which makes her feel better. Alice (Edwards sister) sees the future and she sees Bella jumping off the cliff, the news got to Edward. Edward, thinking that Bella is dead he goes to the Volturi and asks for himself to be killed. The story line is really similar because Romeo was exiled "Immediately we do exile him hence. " act 3 scene1. After the two lovers are separated the story line continues to be the same because Jacob which plays the role as Paris if it was in Romeo and Juliet comes in and tries to take over the role of Romeo which in twilight is Edward. After that Edward tries to kill himself because the thinks Bella was dead I was thinking maybe

Another theme is Love and hate because in twilight Edward and Jacob hates each other because one is a Vampire and one is a Warewolf and they both fighting for the same girl, In Romeo and Juliet, Paris hates Romeo because he thinks Romeo was the reason that Juliet die.

In conclusion there are so many similarities of Romeo and Juliet and New moon that I will not be able to explain all of them in this task but there are also some differences such as Bella loves both Edward and Jacob but in Romeo and Juliet, Juliet loves only Romeo but I think the reason why Stephanie Meyer wrote the story like this is to appeal to female audiences. New moon is definitely inspired by Romeo and Juliet because in the book there are a lot of parts talking about Romeo and Juliet I wasn't going to live without you, he'd said as we watched Romeo and Juliet die, here in this very room.
