No member, officer, or employee shall have, cause to have, or allow any intoxicating beverage, narcotic, or mind-altering substance of any kind to be brought in or about the fire station. Additionally, no member, while on active duty, shall drink intoxicating liquor or alcoholic beverages of any kind. A member on duty under the influence of liquor or drugs, to any degree, shall be deemed in violation of the rules and regulations and subject to disciplinary action. No unauthorized firearms, ammunition, fireworks, or other hazardous materials are permitted at the station at any time. Any member convicted of a felony shall consider this immediate grounds for dismissal from the fire department. No member shall permit unauthorized persons to ride on any apparatus without permission from the chief or his/her designate. Members off duty are required to respond to duty when called upon to do so by the chief of the department or his/her designate. Off-duty paid personnel shall have permission of the on-duty chief officer whenever on station grounds. (Exception: staff personnel). Disobedience of orders given by an officer or an acting officer shall not be tolerated and shall constitute a serious infraction of the general policies. Members shall not leave their assigned station at anytime unless authorized by the on-duty chief officer. The shift officer shall be in charge of the station unless his orders are expressly countermanded by a superior officer. Anytime an employee has a problem with an outside agency, e.g.: ECC, MSO, etc., it is the employees responsibility to contact his/her immediate supervisor. The supervisor in turn will contact the chief officer on duty, who will conduct the investigation. If a member of the department should receive an injury on a fire scene that requires hospital attention, the incident commander of the fire scene shall be notified immediately. No department member will dismiss another member from the scene unless the incident commander is notified. An exception would be a life-threatening injury requiring immediate transport and the incident commander is not available. Any medical problem which develops or is uncovered among departmental personnel which directly affects the performance of an employee is to be examined by a competent physician in that field.
