Korean has two ways to say already and . Theyre a little different, but the difference is pretty simple.

is the regular way to express already. means already, but it also expresses surprise or shock. So whenever you want to express surprise or shock, use , and for all other times use . Its simple, right? . I already did the homework. . It already started. . It already started. ( and Im surprised that it did!) . I found my first love, but it was after already getting married. is an adjective that attaches before nouns to mean (the) first. . He already left. ( and Im surprised that he did!) means that person, and is a polite way to refer to someone who you are not directly speaking with. is the past tense of the verb , an extra polite way of saying .

? Is it finished already? Since this sentence is lacking a at the end, it is informal and for casual use only. . Its already time to graduate. means to graduate.
