Memorandum

To: Karen K. Lee From: Kaitlin Glenn Date: 4/26/2013 Re: Review of work, thoughts on writing for online environments

This semester was a tough one for me. It wasnt the work or the deadlines it was the projects that were piled all at once. I understand that as a professional writer and editor projects will be piled upon you and that sometimes there will always be a time crunch, but when the projects arent fully described and one is due every other day it becomes difficult especially when the magnitude of each project involves at least 5+ pages of work at least. There have been a few classes at YSU that have tested my patience and thought process in this major and this was one of them. I have never underestimated myself more than I did this semester, and that upsets me. I had to constantly remind myself that I could do it and that each day would get better. As far as writing for online environments, I have come to the conclusion that some aspects of my goals will someday be nonexistent. I had always wanted to write and edit for a newspaper or magazine and being that social media is so prevalent in todays world I am forced to accept that someday newspapers and magazines will be obsolete and that I may have to train myself to write and edit online only and not in print. It disheartens me when I see Nooks and Kindles instead of paperback books, although I am not against these technologies I just wish people would remember the feel of a new book and the read of a fresh newspaper.
