CHECKLISTS
You must try as much as you can to help your parents to prepare for this trip. They already havea million things in mind. So do make a checklist of the things you want or need to bringITEMS NO. CHECKLISTSIhram 12 Thawb/ Abaya/ Headscarves 23 Jammies 44 Day shirt 35 Day pants 26 Undies 107 Stationeries8 Shoe/ sandal 1/19 Swimming suit (in case)10 Socks 511 Sweater 112 Toothbrush 113 Little scissors(for the ladies to cut theirhair)
You can add more things that you find useful. But don’t bring the whole house with you.

Mention the need to put effort and put TAWAKKAL to Allah. This is important becausewe need to instill our children from young that firstly planning and preparation isimportant. And more important is to give tawakkal to Allah. For He is the one who willallow anything to happen. In His hands alone are the success or otherwise of our plan.We pray that Allah will give the best to us.2.
 
Mention also the need to have ikhlas in whatever they need to do. Remind them thatniyah is only for Allah and our hope that He is please with us.

TECHNICAL WORDS THAT YOU WILL HEAR OFTEN
Meeqat a special place where you will make your niyah for umrah or hajjNiyah Intention to do something. For umrah you say
َكْَ َ نُ ّ َاٍةَزْ وُ ِ 
 Ihram Being in the state of haram in order to do umrah or hajj. During this timesome things that are normally allowed for you to do will be forbidden likecutting nails or hair for example. This will last until you complete umrah orhajj.Talbiyah Reciting
َكْ  َ نُ ّ ا،كْَ َ َكْ  َ َ َكْ ِزَ شْكَ ،َكْ  َ ىِإَدْ وَ ْ اْع اََََتَ هَكَ ،كْ ُ وْ اَ

from doing the niyah until you reach masjidil haramTawaf Circumblating the kaabah seven times. This is one of the rites for umrahand hajj. It is sunnah to do it when you visit Masjidil haram at any times.Hajaratul Aswad The holy black stone attached to one of the corners the kaabah. It is sunahto kiss it.Rukun Yemeni It is the corner of the kaabah before the corner of hajaratul Aswad (whenyou look at it counter clockwise)Raml Brisk walk or slow running. It is sunnah for the men to perform Raml ontheir first tawaf for the first three rounds.Maqam Ibrahim Also called the station of Ibrahim. This is the spot where Prophet Ibrahima.s. stood when he built the kaabah. An impression of his feet can be seenat this spot. After performing tawaf, go and perform sunnah prayer behindthe Maqaam Ibrahim.Multazam The area between the door of the kaabah an the corner of hajaratulaswad. Make dua between these places as it is accepted by Allah, InsyaAllah.Hijr Ismael It is an area next to the Kaabah. Refer to diagram. Praying in that area islike praying in the kaabah itself.Safa
One of the hills that one needs to ascend when performing sa’ee rite. Then
go to the MarwahMarwah The other hill that
one need to ascend during sa’ee rite. Then go to Safa
 
Sa’ee
One of the rites of umrah and hajj. It invovlves ascending Safa, descendingthe going to Marwah, brisk walking at the appropriate place, thenascending up to Marwah, descending then going to Safa. This will berepeated seven times ending at Marwah.Tahlul Trimming the hair or shaving them. Doing the tahlul ends the ihram.
Just refer back to this list when you find these words to remind you what it means. But InsyaAllah as you go along, these words will become less difficult. May Allah make it easy for us tounderstand.
