North High School Social Studies Department, I dutifully and enthusiastically recommend Mr. Lee Reighard for employment as a teacher within your school district. Mr. Reighard was a student teacher under my supervision during the majority of the spring semester of the 2012 - 2013 school year. During his placement, Mr. Reighard was responsible for teaching 20th Century World History and Technology Literacy. In order to demonstrate his proficiency as a classroom teacher, Mr. Reighard was required to meet the ten standards for teaching as established by INTASC. From my experience of working with Mr. Reighard, it is my conclusion that he meets the INTASC standards for teaching with proficiency. Mr. Reighard was able to demonstrate his content knowledge through meaningful lesson plans, establish a classroom environment, which, displayed a mutual respect between teacher and student, and demonstrated his ability to create meaningful and fair assessments to gauge the level of student comprehension and mastery of content. Furthermore, Mr. Reighard displayed his willingness to grow as a professional by participating in various professional development sessions as administered by the Des Moines Public Schools and North High School. Specifically, Mr. Reighard was an active member of the 20th Century World History data team process. Through the data team process, Mr. Reighard has gained a strong grasp for standard referenced grading of assessments, and the use of data from those assessments to guide his instructional strategies for students at various levels of mastery. In conclusion, I highly recommend Mr. Lee Reighard for a teaching position within your school district.
