Civil Rights activists to rally for Moreau man
Bill Greene was an upstanding citizen quietly going about his life. That was beforehe was entrapped by a secret state police unit in a sting operation earlier this month toenforce the unconstitutional and fundamentally flawed NY SAFE Act.The law is so confusing that many state residents have reported hearing DIFFERENTanswers for the SAME questions when calling the state police hotline established to helpgun owners comply with it.The charges Mr. Greene faces and will answer to in the Town of Moreau JusticeCourt at 9 a.m., May 2 include unlawful transfer of an assault weapon and disposing of aweapon without a NICS background check.
Greene’s friends and neighbors, as well as Civil Rights activists will rally before and
during the hearing to support Mr. Greene and his family. Some will also attend the hearingto ensure due process is followed.
“We obviously believe we have done nothing to violate the law and we have pled not
guilty. We are hardworking, average citizens, and have the utmost faith in our justicesyst
em,” Mr. Greene said. “We
strongly believe in the Second Amendment and theprotection it affords all of us. This case is now in the hands of the court and we will let thecase take its course. We would ask that you please respect our privacy and we thank you
for your support.”
The SAFE Act, which is under challenge by several state and federal lawsuits onconstitutional grounds, violates the Second, Fourth and Fifth Amendments to the UnitedStates Constitution, as well as New York York State Civil Rights Law.
