Pubic Lice are tiny, oval-shaped and generally grayishin color, although after feeding they take on a reddish-brown hue because they are full of blood.

The nits (i.e. eggs) are also very small and are white incolor. They are more commonly referred to as "crabs"because of their resemblance to the crab in theirpincher-like claws.

Pubic Lice are generally transmitted through intimateor sexual contact.

It can also be transmitted by sharing bedding orclothing that is infested.

 A common misconception is that pubic lice can becontracted from a toilet seat. Although it is possible, itis extremely unlikely. Pubic lice do not have feet andcannot cling to smooth surfaces such as a toilet seatnor can they survive long without a host.
