Fans on a Facebook page can postphotos, videos, links, discuss topics on the discussion board andcomment on the Page wall – all depending on the settings outlined bythe Page administrator/owner.Pages however are more flexible in the fact that unlike Groups one canadd Applications to enhance their Page. For example, a FacebookPage for a restaurant might find it beneficial to add the Reviewsapplication. A complete list of apps created by Facebook that can beadded to Pages can be found in theFacebook Application Directory,there is however no easy way to sort Applications solely for Pages. Apopular Application for Pages is Static FBML, which let’s you createvibrant page, tabs.Pages also employ a number of methods to communicate with users.Pages can send updates to users which appear as notifications on thehomepage. Updates can be targeted by age, gender, and location.Communication through Page Updates can contain text and plain non-anchor tagged hyperlinks. The content of the update should be relatedto the Page and does not fall under any particular guidelines exceptthe Facebook's Terms of Use, the Facebook Code of Conduct, and theFacebook Advertising Guidelines.Pages can also send status updates that will appear in a fansHomepage. Friends can then Comment or ‘Like’ a status update thatthey find entertaining – which means increased engagement for thePage. This is a new feature of Pages that was a result of the Facebookhomepage redesign in March 2009.When individuals ‘Like’ a Facebook Page the action appears in thenews stream and Highlights section of the Homepage of the friends of the fan, leading to increased exposure. When fans interacts with aPage the action is publishing on their homepage automatically.Pages take advantage of Facebook’s in-house analytics engine,Facebook Insights. Business accounts however can be turned intopersonal Facebook accounts but not vice versa.Additional benefits of Facebook Pages are that they cost nothing to setup and there are no monthly fees for maintaining a Facebook Page.Pages can also become fans of other Pages, thus helping Pagesaffiliate themselves with other brands in a product line or publicfigures. By becoming a fan of another Page, your Page will publiclysupport that Page.Large Pages can apply for Vanity URLs can get fans through SMSmessages. A vanity URL is a domain name, created to point tosomething to which it is related and indicated in the name of the URL.An example of a Facebook Page vanity url would behttp://www.facebook.com/Coca-cola for the company Coca-Cola. Theprocess to can Coca-Cola would be to text ‘fan coca-cola’ to 32665. Texting to get new fans works for any Pages with vanity URLs.On March 30
