Park City Utah Stomps the 5 Km In the movie Reindeer Games, a Michigan casinos claim to fame is that they

serve both Coke AND Pepsi. Dennis Farini plays the director of the facility (I cant go back to Las Vegas). Snowshoeing isnt a gamble, but the weather can be a bet, for sure. In Park City, the Utah crowd has a choice, too: snowshoes or running shoes, the Coke or Pepsi of our time on trails. Going out and back on the Rail Trail, a track famous in the city and region as a major recreational draw is the definition of this course. In 2013 winner Nick Scalfone sizzled snow with a 22:48 victory, a three-minute and some second win over Iron Man finisher, Eric Egenolf. Egenolf is an architect in the area, a founder of Process Studio. Scalfone is a terror at these distances as evidenced with his 36:00 Memorial Day Marin 10K, a 5:48 pace. In that event, in less than six minutes of the winner back to Scalfone, 78 finished the event; tough crowd at the Marin 10K.A cross-country racer at SUNY Oneonta, he finished his career in that sport with a healthy 27:09 for the NCAAs Regional 8 Km layout. Scalfone racing the national championships would be a factor in the outcome. John Rosswog captured third while 15-year-old Andrew Rummens chased him in with a 28:36 Holly Hagerman won the womens title, placing sixth overall, by breaking 30-minutes by 25 seconds. Deb Lovci, 50, took the silver place with 36:09, some 90-seconds over Laura Strate-Madsens 37:44. A special note to Kathy Crismon, 64, with her 56-minute finish, the oldest member of either class.
