e Daily O
in Ordinary Time
Sunday, Evening Prayer I
e church is dark, or partially so, when the service is to begin. All stand, and the O
ciant greets the people with these words.
Light and Peace, in Jesus Christ our Lord.
anks be to God.
It is not ourselves that we proclaim;  we proclaim Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your servants, for Jesus' sake. 2 Corinthians 4:5-6

e candles at the Altar are now lighted, as are other candles and lamps as may be convenient. During the candle-lighting, silence is kept.
e following hymn, or a metrical version of it, or some other hymn, is then sung:
 Phos Hilaron (O Gracious Light)
