Family Devotions
a simple order for praying together, morning, evening and at bedtime
Night Prayer
From Psalm 31
Read aloud together, or choose one person to read:
In you, O LORD, have I taken refuge;let me never be put to shame:deliver me in your righteousness.Be my strong rock, a castle to keep me safe, for you are my crag and my stronghold;for the sake of your Name, lead me and guide me.Into your hands I commend my spirit, for you have redeemed me,O LORD, O God of truth.
A Reading
(or, any reading from a daily Bible reading plan)
O God, You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whosethoughts are fixed on you!; for in returning and rest we shall be saved;in quietness and trust shall be our strength.
Isaiah 26:3; 30:15 A song or hymn can be sung here. Individuals can pray for their needsand for God’s presence during this night. This is a good place for parents to offer a blessing to their children, or share one reason they are proud of each child today.
The Lord’s Prayer
(said aloud together)
Closing Prayer
Visit this place, O Lord, and drive far from it all snares of the enemy; letyour holy angels dwell with us to keep us in peace; and let your bless-ing be upon us always; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. The almighty and merciful Lord, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, bless usand keep us. Amen.
