Danielle StemenReflection5/2/13Out of all of the projects I completed in this class, I think the Got Lit essay was the mostchallenging, simply because of the fact that I was still in the process of trying to find my style of writing. I think I was a bit rusty at the beginning of the semester, due to the fact that
I hadn’t
written in a while. It was somewhat of a challenge to get back into the swing of things, but Ithink my essay turned out pretty okay. The Got Lit essay also helped me prepare for the Inquiry paper
 —
it got me interested inwriting again. I really do think my Inquiry paper is my strongest essay this semester. I wasextremely excited to learn about something new, about something that always intrigued me. Iwas really dedicated to writing this paper, and making it the best it could be. It gave me the roomto be creative, to have a sense of informality when discussing a serious subject. I thought it wasreally cool and I had a lot of fun writing it, making a visual representation of it, etc.I also think I learned the most about writing from the Inquiry Project. The Got Lit essay
was kind of like a memoir in a way, and I’ve written plenty before. However, I’ve never
had theopportunity to write a paper on a subject I knew nothing about. I was expecting the same oldresearch paper, but it was so much different. I was able to use my voice, express my thoughts, opinions, etc. and it was a really cool, new experience. It really made me realize that there are nodefinite rules of writing
—writing is a lot like art, I’ve realized. Even though you’re taught all of
these rules in grade school about writing, th
ey really aren’t as definite as they’re made out to be
.It takes creativity and passion to write
 —
you have to be unique. Like painting, there are severaldifferent techniques you can use to write a great paper.
