Mike, I really liked your paper! I think you are 'on the money' here regarding Paul. His "in Christ" transcends though includes his "in Judaism". By including basic elements of Judaism, such as montheism, ethics, eschatology etc, he cannot be charged with supersessionism for he has not replaced Judaism in toto - far from it. Yet Paul is clearly beyond mainstream Judaism by bringing in the Gentiles without circumcision, denying salvific efficacy to the Torah etc even though he still considers himself a Jew, Hebrew etc, though all that is ultimately relativised to being "rubbish" compared to knowing and being "in Christ". In Christ/New Creation is the new Pauline category. Look forward to seeing you post summer. Dave Bolton
