Juvenile Arthritis Quilt Project
Here is a project that I know guild members will beinterested in –and hopefully some small groups too.Janeen will let us know how the project is progressing —here is how it came about.
submitted by Janeen Pearson
The project is the brainchild of a 14 year old freshmanat Roland-Story High School. Her name is KayleeWellik. She has been suffering from Juvenile Arthritissince she was 4 years old. As she enters the seconddecade of having this disease she is working harder and making a difference helping people with arthritis. Her project that she is working on is a welcome kit for new families diagnosed with arthritis. In the kit she isincluding educational materials and home made quilts. Her goal is to have 100 quilts by the end of 2010.Depending on the success of this project the IowaArthritis Foundation would like to eventually extendthis to more families.Currently Kaylee's grandmother has been helping her make these quilts. Since the quilts are geared tochildren of all ages. Juvenile arthritis can strikeinfants all the way to teenagers.
They are lookingfor fabric, batting, thread and even finishedquilts.
They would even be willing to join any groupsthat would like to make quilts for this project.Any questions please contact Janeen Pearson - sorrymy phone number in the guild directory is incorrect. The correct number is 515-321-9699 and my email ismspear56@aol.com
