Jefferson County Board of Elections Releases Non-Partisan Designating Petition for use in City of Watertown Non-Partisan elections
Today, the Jefferson County Board of Elections released a standardized Non-Partisan Designating Petition form to be used for all City of Watertown elections starting with the 2013 election cycle. This form was developed after public interest in this years City Council elections. The City of Watertowns Non-Partisan election system was set up by Chapter 276 of the Laws of 1920. This section of law outlines the legal language of the Non-Partisan Designating Petition. Up to this point in time, neither the City of Watertown nor the Board of Elections produced a standard petition that conformed to the 1920 law. In an effort to standardize this process for all those interested in running for office in the City of Watertown and to stay true to the letter of the law, the Jefferson County Board of Elections has created a NonPartisan Designating Petition. This form will be the standard designating petition distributed and accepted by the Jefferson County

Board of Elections for gaining ballot access for the September Primary Election and the November General Election. This form will be available at the Board of Elections on the 4 th Floor of the Jefferson County Office Building at 175 Arsenal Street and on the Board of Elections website.
