PEW CUSHIONS
The new pew cushions have beenprovided through the courtesy andgenerosity of Louie & Lillian Pontello, former members of our parish. Lilliandied Dec. 30, 2000 at the age of 82 andLouie died May 17, 2008 at the age of 91. They were lifetime parishioners andLouie was an usher at 5:30pm mass formany, many years. Lillian had to bring acushion to mass every Sunday so Louiesaid: “when I die I am donating a portionof my estate to the Our Lady of LourdesMemorial Fund and I want some of thatmoney to be used for pew cushions.” Heand Lillian would be pleased to knowthat we now have comfortable seats. Our job and responsibility is to take good careof the cushions — Please make everyeffort to treat them properly. And prayfor Louie & Lillian and all who havecontributed to the Memorial Fundthrough their estate.

REFLECTIONS ON LIFE
“In today’s world of medical technologyand pain control, the understandable fearof pain and death as one faces the end of their life should never lead to suicide —physician-assisted or otherwise.”

FOOD PANTRYWesley House
, our local food pantry, for the second year in a row, has been given the opportunity to double any gifts of food ormoney donated to them during the months of March and April. Mr. Alan Feinstein, Cranston, RI, has announced that he will matchany donation of food or money contributed to Wesley House; they will receive $1.00 for each pound item or dollar. If you wish todonate by check, please make it payable to Wesley House and have “Feinstein” on the memo line.
For your information.
***Our parish has supported the Wesley House food pantry for years. It is a great way to centralize the distribution of food in ourcommunity. This eliminates the duplication of efforts. Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Wichita subsidizes the salary of a fulltime social worker, Alberta, at Wesley House. This is just one of the ways the Catholic Church provides assistance to those in needin the Pittsburg area.
