Executive Board 2009-2010 Descriptions
PRESIDENT
The president’s role is to provide leadershipto the organization and act as theorganization spokesman.*Preside over all meetings and functions of organization*Write all meeting agendas*Delegate chapter responsibilities*Coordinate chapter projects*Maintain contact with Regional and National offices*Act as “face” of organization in publicforums and media outlets
VICE PRESIDENT
The vice president provides support to the president and other leaders.*Provide support for president and executive board members*Plan off-campus professional developmentand shadowing/mentoring opportunities for members*Be available to substitute for presidentwhen he/she is unavailable*Maintain contact with alumni
SECRETARY
The secretary maintains crucial documentsfor the organization and act as historian.*Track membership information*Send organization notices to membershipon listserv*Write meeting minutes for all meetings*Compile documents and information for annual report to headquarters*Maintain and organize OU SPJ archives
TREASURER 
The treasurer maintains a balancedorganization budget and finances whilefinding ways to increase funding.*Balance budget and spending informationfor organization*Organize fundraisers to raise funds
 
*Allocate reimbursements for spending*Maintain accurate budget records*Obtain funds from dues and OUAA shirtsales*Apply for SAC funding when needed
PROGRAMMING CHAIRS
The programming chairs work together to provide education and fun opportunities for members.*Book guest speakers*Schedule workshops and training sessions*Head two of the following committees:Freedom of Information, First Amendment,Project Watchdog, and Ethics*Plan social events*Write “Thank You” notes to presenters*Work with other campus groups on programming efforts
PUBLICITY
The publicity executive is in charge of advertising programs and chapter efforts.*Maintain and regularly update blog/website*Write press releases for major programs*Use new/social media to reach new andcurrent members*Aid in recruitment efforts through the year
