We are able to observe a variety of miracles in our creation and in our daily lives. What fact do such miracles point to? In addition, history records interaction with the Creator. In the face of such evidence, what attitude should one have towards the Creator asks Yousuf Mahbubul Islam, PhD.

The Revelation (277)yousuf mahbubul Islam, PhD
Can we imagine the type of relationship that should exist between the Creator and His
created
 human beings? In addition, can we work out why He created us individually? Or stated in adifferent way, what would it take for a human being to realize that he/she has been designedand put together cell by cell individually by the Creator and that the life on earth is a test? A veryserious test, i.e. our fate and future depends entirely on how we perform during our sojourn onearth?How can one know or find out about these things? For example, whether we study theextraordinary miracles

of the human body or its normal functioning

, the observable bio-engineering cannot be anything but the result of a Supreme Intelligence designing and puttingeverything in order. Why has the Creator gone to all this trouble? To understand this, we mayask parallel questions. For example, why did Leonardo take the trouble to paint Mona Lisa? Theanswer may be
 personal
satisfaction. However, if Leonardo were able to give Mona Lisaintelligence, what would be the first thing he would want from her? Also, on her part, using her given intelligence, should Mona Lisa acknowledge Leonardo as her maker and adore him?Similarly, what else could the Creator possibly want from His perfectly-designed creation?What if Mona Lisa became arrogant and insolent towards Leonardo? What if she felt, becauseof her beauty, she could do anything she pleased? What reaction could we expect fromLeonardo? Having gone through so much effort in making her, how should Leonardo interactwith her? Would he give her a last chance before destroying her? Similarly, how should theCreator interact with people/communities who are arrogant and insolent towards Him? WouldHe give additional tests and finally destroy them?Can we find out whether history records any interaction between human beings and theCreator? Where – in the history books and scriptures? In this connection, let us examine therecords of such an interaction between the Creator and the people of Thamud
{3}
given in themost recent Revelation, the Qur’an.
7.73 “To the Thamud people (We sent) Saleh, one of their own brethren: he said:"O my people! Worship Allah; you have no other god but Him. Now has come toyou a clear (Sign) from your Lord!
This she-camel of Allah is a Sign to you:
soleave her to graze in Allah's earth and let her come to no harm or you shall beseized with a grievous punishment.”
Since the people of the tribe Thamud did not believe or care to evaluate the regular miracles of the Creator, as a reminder, the Creator inspired Prophet Saleh who already lived among them. As a representative of the Creator, his job was simply to ask the people of Thamud to consider their personal attitudes towards their Maker.
Not an apostle did We send before you (Prophet Muhammad) without this inspirationsent by Us to him: that there is no god but I;
therefore worship and serve Me
.
[21.25]No apostle carried a message that was different. In addition, the miracle of a she-camel wasgranted to the people of Thamud.
For We sent the she-camel by way of trial for them.
So watch them (O Saleh) and waitin patience!
[54.27]So, what was the additional miracle and test for the people of Thamud? The arrogant people of Thamud actually challenged Saleh to produce a miracle in front of their eyes. Tafsir Ibn Kathir
{4}
of the Qur’an discusses the incident in detail and reports on page 118:
Saleh's people asked him to produce a miracle and chose a certain solid rock, whichstood in the area of Hijr, called Al-Katibah. They asked him to bring a pregnant camel
