OK, we need an expert in classified military documents to answer the date questions. E.g., on the cover the date is 1954. A previous commenter noted that Sputnik was launched in 1957. Also, on p.20 of the document (23 of the PDF) on the bottom of the page, dates of downed craft are listed as 1947 to 1963. There may be more, but the question is: Do these manuals retain the date they were first published on the cover? Because if so, and the publication states an event as late as 1963, this means the manual was printed and photographed at any date after 1963 (so the heat-sealing technology date is a non-issue).

To newsphobic, fibreboard was manufactured as early as 1912 using the leftover materials when processing sugarcane. The manufacturing of hardboard started in the late 1920s. I would think you're probably thinking of MDF which was being mass produced at the begining of the 1960s (velcro produced before MDF??? the mind boggles...). I would also like to comment that even though sputnik I was the first satellite to be declared in orbit around the earth, if i was a world leader experimenting with a new type of technology i'd be keeping quiet about it. the military were using high def satellite pictures over two decades before those same images became available to us all via google earth, all of this is pretty redundant considering that aliens do not exist... ;)

FATUOUS OBSERVATION(S). THE COMMENTATOR HAS MINIMAL KNOWLEDGE OF PHOTOGRAPHY TECHNIC. HOW RIDICULOUS. EVER USE A MINOLTA? OF THAT OF WHICH WE DO NOT KNOW WE MUST NOT SPEAK: Wittgenstein CLUELESS WINGNUT COMMENTS BY AT BEST HALF EDUCATED TWITS WHO HAVE NO MILITARY EXPERIENCE. NOT TO MINCE WORDS

The pictures are too crisp and clear to be that old. Although they are black and white and grainy the pictures have a sharpness to them that wouldn't be seem until at the 80's I'd say. For example the hand on pg 12 is too sharp and clear. If you look closely you'll see what I mean...

same for the material known as fiberboard....invented in the 1960's...sorry, not convinced

from a check on Google..heat sealing technology (using thermo-setting plastics) wasn't patented until 1969...I'm guessing it's a fake document

Interesting, but one thing I thought was a little strange is that each right hand page has its page number on and are sequential. Would the back of page 1 have page 2 written on its back and so forth? Or is this an american thing unlike us in the UK?

Either way, too bad these images were taken so sloppily.

Not sure how I even got this doc but it looked interesting to me. I don't know if it's real or not, probably fake. Just thought I would share it. KillerD
