This document provides quick guidelines for hardw ware installation. This document does not describe pre-delivery ass sembly. This document describes only procedures for onsite installation.
Electrostatic Discharge ontact Wear ESD gloves or an ESD wrist strap prior to co with the equipment or before handling the plug-boards, boards, and IC chips to prevent damage to sensitive components caused by electrostatic discharge from the human body. Ensure that the other end of the ESD D wrist strap is properly grounded. IC
Binding Cables Binding intervals between cable ties or optical fibe er binding straps inside the cabinet cannot exceed 250 mm. (The distance cannot exceed 200 mm for user cab bles). /250mm 200mm Binding intervals between cable ties for all cables and corrugated pipes outside the cabinet are determined according to the distance between the two horizon ntal beams beams. If the cable trough does not contain any beams beams, the binding intervals between cable ties cannot ex xceed 250 mm. 250mm
Pre-installation Check Check the telecommunications room, cabinet, pow wer supply, ground wires, optical cables, and associated facilities prior to installation. Start the installation according to the engineering design documents after verifying that conditions are met.
Do not hold a board without hand protection. Wear an ESD wrist strip or ESD gloves before handling a board. Wearing ESD gloves Wearing an ESD strip Holding a board without hand protection
Insert filler panels into vacant slots on an NE to pr revent foreign matters from getting into the NE, which may result in faults on the NE. Boards are fragile and valuable. When handling or o placing a board, exercise caution and put it into a dedicated packing box.

Before installing the equipment, ensure that the cabinet has already been installed. The cabinet can be installed on the ESD floor or concrete floor. For details about how to install the cabinet, see the Cabinet Installation Guide delivered with the cabinet. The equipment can be installed in an ETSI cabinet, a 21-inch open rack, or a 19-inch standard cabinet. ETSI2119
The equipment can be installed when no guide rail is s provided. You can install the mounting ears and equipment based on the following procedure: 1. Separately mount M6 screws into the bottom-lowe er floating nuts of the mounting bar on both sides of the cabinet, and reserve sufficient space for installing mounting m ears between the screws and the mounting bar. Then, confirm that an appropriate length of M6 screw ws is inserted into the floating nuts to avoid fall-off of the chassis. 1 1. M6
2. Place the chassis into the cabinet. Note: Place the t cucurbit-shape holes in the lower part of the mounting g ears onto the M6 screws and use the M6 6 screws to secure the chassis onto the cabinet. 2. M6M6
The default mounting ears are applicable to the situa ation where the equipment is installed in a 19-inch standard cabinet. When installing the equipment in another ty ype of cabinet, use other mounting ears as required. When installing the equipment in a 21-inch cabinet, install two t sets of mounting ears. That is, retain the default mounting ears ears, and install another set of mounting e ears for the equipment installed in the 21 21-inch inch cabinet cabinet. 19 21 21 Generally, install mounting ears in an ETSI cabinet. ETSI Install mounting ears in a19-inch standard cabinet. 19
Cabinet-sharing Installation
The RTN 980 can be placed in a stacked manner. When the RTN 980 and other type of equipment are e installed in the same cabinet, it is recommended that you reserve a 2U or greater space for heat dissipatio on. 2U When the RTN 980 and other type of equipment are e installed in the same cabinet, the temperature in the air outlet needs to be lower than 50C if the lower equipment e emits the air on its top. Otherwise, use an air guide plate for separation between the upper equ uipment and the lower equipment. 50

Installing Fibers
Precautions
When installing or maintaining fibers, do not look into o the optical port without eye protection. See Figure 1. Coil up the inter-office fibers on the ODF and then ro oute them into the cabinet. Do not coil up external fibers in the cabinet. 1 ODF
When routing fibers, take proper measures to avoid any damage to fiber connectors After installation of the fibers, place protective caps on o to the idle optical ports, and place fiber caps on to the idle fibers. See Figure 2. 2 Figure 1 1 Figure 2 2
Fiber with a short protective tube Fiber cap
p cap p Dustproof
For a closed corrugated pipe, take protective measur res and then route fibers into the corrugated pipe. For an open corrugated pipe, route fibers into the corrugated d pipe and then take protective measures. After routing fibers into a corrugated pipe, wrap PVC insulation tapes around the cuts of the corrugated pipe. Do not feed a large number of fibers in a corrugated pipe. p It is recommended that you feed not more than sixty 2 mm di diameter t fib fibers i in an open corrugated t d pipe i and d not t more th than t twenty t 2 mm di diameter t fib fibers in i a closed l d corrugated pipe (See Figure 3). The corrugated pipe needs to be routed into the cabin net for approximately 10 cm (See Figure 4). 2mm60 2mm203 10cm4 Figure 3 3 Figure 4 4
