PNEUMATIC STANDARDSforINDUSTRIALEQUIPMENTandGENERAL PURPOSEMACHINE TOOLSP-1-1975
FOREWORD
Users and suppliers of industrial equipment, as well as thecomponent manufacturers, have long recognized that the safety of  personnel and uninterrupted production are of cardinal importanceto the economic growth of industry. The application of pneumaticsto industrial equipment resulted in preparation of the first pneumatic standard over 20 years ago. This is the latest revision of that standard. This revision has been written as a General Purpose PneumaticStandard and has been extended, where noted, to Mass ProductionEquipment, as well as to the type of engineering considereddesirable. This standard is basic in nature, that is, it does notcontain any requirements specific to any one industry, company, division, or plant. All JIC standards are advisory only. Their use in industry or trade is entirely voluntary. The JIC assumes no liability for any patent infringements or asserted patent infringements which may result from the use of thisstandard.Comments or requests for information regarding JIC activitiesor interpretation of the JIC standards should be addressed to theSecretary of the Joint Industrial Council, 7901 Westpark Drive,McLean, VA 22101.Proposals to change this JIC Pneumatic Standard areconsidered in the Joint Industrial Council meetings held at intervalsfor this purpose. Future revisions will include applicationrequirements for those fields that become so closely associated withthe pneumatic science as to be deemed a part thereof. No additions, revisions, or deletions shall be made hereto when reproduced as theJIC Pneumatic Standard for Industrial Equipment. The JIC Pneumatic Standard Committee which prepared thisstandard was composed of:
