Executive Summary
This whitepaper is an analysis of Global Steel Philippines[SPV-AMC], Inc. or GSPI’s Information Systems and ServicesDepartment (ISSD) from the viewpoint of a user, an outsiderlooking in. It details the known facts disseminated throughGSPI’s corporate communications network, actual usage of thenew in-house developed information systems, additional relatedliterature research, and comprehensive analyses of the varioussystems applying the theories and concepts learned in thecourse: Management Information Systems and Expert Systemsin Business.GSPI’s ISSD and National Steel Corporation’s InformationSystems Department (ISD) is presented for comparativepurposes only. As there are no published facts on InformationSystems of Ispat Industries Limited (IIL) or Global SteelHoldings, Ltd. (GSHL), the mother company of GSPI, therecommendations are anchored on best practices frompublished resources on the World Wide Web; benchmarks frominternational manufacturing corporations, global leaders in thesteel industry, and world-recognized standard-giving bodies;and intimate knowledge of the existing GSPI’s managementinformation systems, augmented with research and personalinterviews with users and developers.
