Dear EthelI’m writing to tell you about something that happened yesterday. I
got
up at the usualtime – about 10am –
had
a shower and
made
breakfast. I
ate
a big bowl of cerealand some toast and watched TV for a while. Then I
went
into the kitchen where I
heard
a funny noise. I
thought
it
came
from behind the cooker. I
got
my tool box andmoved the cooker out of the way.The noise
got
louder but I couldn’t see anything. I
rang
my uncle to ask his advice.He
said
that he
thought
it could be a gas leak. When I
heard
this I just panicked! I
put
the phone down,
ran
outside,
got
in my car and
drove
to the local police station.I
told
them about my gas leak but the constable
lost
his patience with me. He
said
 that I should have phoned the gas company. He
wrote
his report, then
rang
the gascompany for me.
