Advertise Business OpportunityInternet Business OptimizationKeywords
In this tutorial, I am going to cover “Keyword Optimization”as a way to generate free leads and massive amounts of traffic for your business. If you don't know anything about the topic thisshould be a very eye-opening overview.First of all, let’s talk about what a keyword is and what a tagis. Well, they are both types of website text used by search enginessuch as Yahoo and Google to find things on the Internet that peopleare searching for. The primary difference between the two is that akeyword is a phrase and a tag is a single word. Also, a keyword issometimes evaluated as a series of tags and sometimes not. Theeasiest way to demonstrate this is by typing a phrase such as "work from home " into the Google search engine and keeping the phrasein quotations. When you do this, you will get a certain number of search results and it will read something like "1-10 of about19,000,000." Now if you take away the quotations, you will getmany more search results, because, in addition to "work fromhome," Google will also find search results for "work" and for "home." The search engine will process the keyword as individualtags in addition to processing it as a keyword phrase. Now the following description is not a method that Irecommend, but it’s some background information that you need toknow. In the earlier days of the internet people would put tags or keywords that they felt customers would search for into both theunseen head section of their website and into the text on the bodyof their home page. If your website was about a home based business, for instance, you might put phrases like "home based business," "work from home," or "extra income" on your website.Search engines utilize programs called spiders that crawl aroundthe Internet and catalogue these keywords and tags from themillions of websites out there. Also, the more links that you haveto your website the easier it is for these spider programs to find and

catalogue your site, and the more frequently your site would beupdated in the search engine’s database. People would often spenda lot of time trying to get other websites to link back to theirs inorder to make it easier for search engines to find their web site. This process would lead to higher and higher rankings on searchengines and your site would come closer and closer to the top of the first page of search results as time went on. Now you still want to optimize the keywords and tags onyour website, but using this as your primary method of promotionis a bit out dated and ineffective today for several reasons. One isthat it takes months to get any type of results from this process. Inthe early days of the Internet there weren’t as many sites out thereto compete against for traffic and it was relatively easy to get your site to the top of a search engine's results with a little optimization. But now there is just too much competition. Another reason is thatmany of the companies in the past that have charged a fee for thistype of optimization service and for listing your site with all of themajor search engines have been downright fraudulent about it andreally didn’t do much work. But the biggest reason why thismethod is no longer effective is that the social media and socialcontent sites and blogs like Facebook, Youtube, Squidoo, Blogger and literally hundreds of others receive so much traffic thatanything posted on them will tend to come up to the top of thesearch results ahead of a personal website. If you do a search for  just about anything today you will see many of these social mediasites, also referred to as web 2.0, on the first few pages of searchresults. This is a phenomenon that smart marketers are takingadvantage of. Instead of spending time or money optimizing a personal website, you can leverage the traffic of these larger sitesto get higher rankings on the search engines and link that traffic back to your personal site. Additionally, these are high quality links because these sites do get so much traffic, so they do in turn helpoptimize your personal website too. This is the method that I reallyrecommend.

Now let’s discuss how to find the right keywords. This is a bit technical but once you understand this, your marketing will become much more scientific and predictable. If you've ever usedGoogle Adwords or any type of pay-per-click, you are probablyalready familiar with this process. What you want is a phrase that alot of people are searching for but that has a relatively smallnumber of search results so that you can effectively compete. However, the phrase still has to adequately describe your business. If you do a Google search for the phrase "work from home"you will get over 300 million results. There may be a lot of peoplesearching for this phrase but there is no way you would ever get tothe top of the search results. You need a much narrower targetmarket. You can use an inexpensive software program like "AdWord Analyzer" or "Word Tracker" or the “Google Adwords”keyword tools and get a list of hundreds of similar phrases that people commonly search for like "legitimate work from home job"or "home based business for single moms." Then all you need to fois find one or two keywords in which the ratio between the amountof people searching and the amount of sites that exist about thetopic swings in your favor. As a general rule, if you can find a phrase that has under 50,000 search results and has more than afew hundred people a month searching for it, you have a reallygood shot at getting high rankings on the search engines. The information that these programs provide about whichkeyword is going to draw traffic is priceless. It can really make or  break your marketing. If you combine this with leveraging thetraffic of one of the social media sites, you can get your site to thetop page of the first page of Google and generate a ton of trafficand thousands of free leads. This modern use of keywordoptimization can grow your business exponentially.Of course we need something to promote on these sites. Youcould make a short video or an audio file about your business. Youcould also record a short webinar or PowerPoint presentation, writean educational article, use a blog post, or even just write a short paragraph or two telling people something useful about your
