The individualist
Walter Rhrl did not start racing for Audi until late but he was successful.
Many experts consider Walter Rhrl, the 1980 and 1982 world champion, to simply be the best rally driver of all times. The lanky racing driver was born in Regensburg, Germany, in 1947, and was a consistently precise driver never spectacular, but always efficient. The charismatic individualist joined Audi in 1984. Together with co-driver Christian Geistdrfer he celebrated two huge wins at Monte Carlo and San Remo. Rhrl drove in numerous circuit track races for the brand until 1992.
