The heart-warming protagonist of a real-world fairytale, Pinki wasone of the lucky children helped each year by “The Smile Train,” asdepicted in SMILE PINKI- The Film. Not only that, he has raised his small trauma center in the holycity of Varanasi to become the world’s largest cleft center in lessthan 4 years. At his hospital, G.S. Memorial Plastic Surgery Center, Dr.Subodh has helped 13,000 children already, and continues to attracthundreds more every month in search of a smile, hope and asecond chance at life. Dr. Singh is not just a great surgeon, but anamazing human being who combines excellent surgery withunbounded zeal, a rare energy, and transparent compassion.

Smile Pinki (2008)is a 39 minute Academy Award winning documentarydirected by Megan Mylan. The film shows the captivating story of a desperatelypoor girl in rural India whose life is transformed when she receives free surgery tocorrect her cleft lip. The documentary was made in Hindi and Bhojpuri, and wonthe 81st Academy Award for Best Documentary (Short Subject).
