EAST Receives Prestigious Tenet Circle of Excellence Award for 2013

The 110- bed acute hospital offers a range of specialties,from cardiac care and orthopedics, to Level III Neonatal Intensive Care, and emergency roomneeds. SPEMC has expanded its services to in-clude Electrophysiology, a free standing outpa-tient Wound Care and Hyperbaric Center, anoutpatient Infusion Center, and a Maternal FetalMedicine High Risk Clinic, Breast andWomen’s Health Center and will introduce min-imally invasive robotic surgery options with theda Vinci in the late summer.The hospital is currently undergoing a$67 million patient tower expansion to be com- pleted at the end of 2014. The primary focus of the expansion will be a new four-story tower with over 145,000 square feet in addition to anew emergency department that will increasethe capacity from 21 beds to 31 beds. The JointCommission recertified SPEMC as an accred-ited Primary Stroke Center in 2013 and SierraProvidence East was also recently designated asa Level IV Trauma Facility by the Texas Depart-ment of State Health Services.
