The Revelation (278)yousuf mahbubul Islam, PhD
Should things be used outside their designed purpose? When things are made, they aredesigned and made for a purpose. What may happen if something is used for a purpose other than for which it is made? Often people use a knife as a screwdriver. When used in this waywhat may happen to the tip of the knife or the head of the screw? Either one or both aredamaged.Similarly, if human beings are created, i.e. made by the Creator, they must have been designedand built for a purpose. Each part of the body, the intelligence or the brain, the eyes, the hands, the feet, the five senses, the organs as well as the reproductive organs all have a specificpurpose. For example, why has the Creator created intelligence? Before we look at the various functions of the human body, we must realize that any designer or manufacturer must have a vested or personal interest in the creation of the functioning object. So, before we look at the functioning of the brain and intelligence, we could ask a simplequestion like, what the Creator possibly would want from the human brain that He has created?Has He gone to all the trouble of creating the brain just for fun?Looking for a simplified explanation of the functioning or working of the brain, we find Adamson
“The human brain
...simultaneously processes an amazing amount of information. Your brain takes in all the colors and objects you see, the temperature around you, thepressure of your feet against the floor, the sounds around you, the dryness of your mouth, even the texture of your keyboard. Your brain holds and processes all your emotions, thoughts and memories. At the same time your brain keeps track of theongoing functions of your body like your breathing pattern, eyelid movement, hunger andmovement of the muscles in your hands. The human brain processes more than amillion messages a second. Your brain weighs the importance of all this data, filteringout the relatively unimportant. This screening function is what allows you to focus andoperate effectively in your world. The brain functions differently than other organs. Thereis an intelligence to it, the ability to reason, to produce feelings, to dream and plan, totake action, and relate to other people.
What an amazing instrument! The brain can also process the written word, i.e. read, comprehend and write. The question is, why has God gone to all the trouble of creating such anamazing instrument? What purpose could God possibly have? Could it possibly be that Hewants the human brain to work out and discover what amazing things He has done, thank Himand adore Him in return? Turning to the Bible, we find,
You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
Jesus replied: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul andwith all your mind.'
[Matthew, 22:37, NIV]
Jesus asked us to give complete love to our common Creator [John 20:17]
as confirmed inVerse 3.51 of the Qur’an. Likewise, in the most recent Revelation, the Qur’an we find,
O, you who believe! Celebrate the praises of Allah and do this often; and glorify Himmorning and evening. He it is Who sends blessings on you as do His angels that Hemay bring you out from the depths of Darkness into Light: and He is Full of Mercy to theBelievers.
