Department for International Development: Educational Papers
This is one of a series of Education Papers issued by the Central Research Department of theDepartment For International Development. Each paper represents a study or piece of commissioned research on some aspect of education and training in developing countries. Most of the studies were undertaken in order to provide informed judgements from which policy decisionscould be drawn, but in each case it has become apparent that the material produced would be of interest to a wider audience, particularly those whose work focuses on developing countries.
Each paper is numbered serially. Further copies can be obtained through DFID Publications -subject to availability. A full list of previous Education books and papers can be found on thefollowing pages, along with information on how to order copies. Although these papers are issued by DFID, the views expressed in them are entirely those of theauthors and do not necessarily represent DFID’s own policies or views. Any discussion of theircontent should therefore be addressed to the authors and not to DFID.Professor Susan RobertsonCentre for Globalisation,Education and SocietiesUniversity of Bristol35 Berkeley SquareBristol BS8 1JA s.l.robertson@bristol.ac.uk ph: 44 (0) 117 9287181ph: 44 (0) 117 9257584© Susan Robertson, Mario Novelli, Roger Dale,Leon Tikly, Hillary Dachi, Ndibelema Alphonce2007
