was inspired by my travels in Alaska, the southwest of the United States, down into Mexico, Guatemala, and Brazil. Fascinated by the history and culture of mermaids, I researched mermaid tales from Russia, France, Brazil, and, along the way, argued with Joseph Campbell and Ariel.
