Farewell to Some Dog Members of River Park
behind his loving owners, Sandra and Tomand ‘brother’ Bear.In April, Gary and his wife lost their faithfulHere’s some timely information aswe plan and head off for vacation withour pets.Gale B was recently at the vet clinicto get her dog’s annual test forheartworm and medication and askedabout statistics on heartworm. Shewas surprised to learn that reportedheartworm cases have escalated inAlberta from 4 in 2005 to 16 in 2006,which is more than reported findingsin British Columbia.Her veterinarian said more cases areexpected, as people seem to feel thatheartworm is no big deal here anddon’t test or medicate their dogs. Hervet said dog owners should considerthese preventive measures, particularlyif you take your dog into heavily woodedareas or places that have a lot ofmosquitoes.It’s a nasty disease and can easly bespread by an infected dog. Medicationand testing is approximately $100/year,for first couple of years, then each yearthereafter, $45 for medication.
