Well learn about the moons, planets, asteroids, and the comets. 180 6/3-6/7 9:00a-11:45a Ages 4-6 $109/$105

This 30 minute course offers an imaginative, integrative, and experiential learning approach for children and parents using yoga as the foundation. Children will be able to incorporate physical, cognitive, and psychosocial skills. This class allows for quality family time that increases body awareness and appreciation. The moves in this class increase blood flow to all areas of the body, stretches and strengthens the muscles, helps to flush toxins from the body and improves balance and coordination for both parent and child. It is my belief that participation in healthy activities from an early age reduces a childs risk of obesity and health complications that stem from inactive and poor body awareness. Participation in activity brings confidence and connects the mind, body, and spirit. Parents participate in all classes. 210 6/10-6/28 (MW) 11:15a-11:45a Ages 4-6 $74/$72

How would you like to go to camp this summer without ever leaving home? Many boys and girls in Wichita have spent hours of fun in Scott Hawleys Camp Collegiate, a day camp especially designed for boys and girls who are entering third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, or eighth grade. Campers spend their days with friends and counselors doing all of the typical camp things: swimming, arts and crafts, having treats, horseback riding, games and a lot of not-so-traditional things: feeding and caring for snakes, lizards, and other reptiles; studying ecosystems and astronomy; building woodworking and electronics projects; visiting caves and the Oklahoma salt flats; going to Laser Quest; and competing in science challenges. Kids often say that this camp is one of the best parts of their summer! Note: You may send your children for partial sessions that will be pro-rated accordingly. Collegiate Boys Basketball

Mitch Fiegel

If you are interested in a real basketball camp, then Coach Fiegel has just the camp for you. We have one primary goal in our camps and that is to prepare you to be successful as a basketball player. We focus on three areas to make that happen fundamentals - attitude - and work ethic. We want every young man who leaves our camp to have a total and complete understanding of what it takes to be successful in the game of basketball. In the past twenty-three years, Coach Fiegel has won five State Championships (1993, 1996, 2007, 2009, and 2010) They were second in 1998 and finished third in 1994 and 2011. In 2007 and 2010 he was chosen by the Wichita Eagle as Metro Coach of the Year and All-State Coach of the Year as well. When you think about what camp to choose for you son this summer, ask yourself these questions:
1. Do you want a tough and challenging camp for your son? 2. Is 24 years of summer camp experience important to you? 3. Do you want your son to work harder than he has ever worked and have fun while he is doing it? 4. Do you at some point hope that your son will be a high school player on a great TEAM?

The program is under the direction of Troy Black. Coach Black will be assisted by Cam Clark and Mike Gehrer. Coach Black is the strength and speed coordinator for Wichita Collegiate School. Coach Black has been teaching strength and speed training for twenty-three years. Coach Clark is a NATA Certified Athletic Trainer since 1989 and the head trainer at WCS and Newman University. Grades 9-12 Boys Students will lift weights and work on speed and agility four days a week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, June 3 - August 8). The second session is for students who are going to be sophomores and freshman for the upcoming 2013-2014 school year. Both sessions will overlap at 8:00am. During this overlap time both groups will do their speed, agility, quickness (SAQ) work together. Prior to this time the first session will do their weight training and the second group will do their weight training after the SAQ session. There will be a testing day prior to the start of the first week. This is a mandatory attendance day. Testing will be done this week to determine strengths and weaknesses, which will be used to individualize the participants workout program. The day will be sent out at a later date. Those attending will receive 2 t-shirts for the program. 4040 4041 4042 4043 6/3-7/4 (M-Th) 7/8-8/8 (M-Th) 6/3-7/4 (M-Th) 7/8-8/8 (M-Th) 7:00a-8:45a 7:00a-8:45a 8:00a-9:30a 8:00a-9:30a Grades 11-12 Boys Grades 11-12 Boys Grades 9-10 Boys Grades 9-10 Boys $193/$187.50 $193/$187.50 $193/$187.50 $193/$187.50

Strength & Speed Program

Troy Black

Our proven program is designed to address the following areas: strength, speed, quickness, agility, cardiovascular conditioning, and core strength. Students will work daily on a variety of exercises and drills developed to help them progress in the above mentioned areas. Over the years students have improved their strength, increased their speed and quickness, and improved their overall athletic performance. Since 1992, over forty Wichita Collegiate student athletes from the Upper School programs have gone on to major college programs.

Grades 7-8 Boys This program is for students who will be in the 7th and 8th grades during the 2013-2014 school year. Students will learn proper techniques for certain weight lifting and running exercises. When they work with weights, they will use weight that is appropriate for their age and experience. The repetitions will be appropriate for the students age (high reps, the range will be 10-15 reps). They will also be instructed on how to work on their strength by using other implements such as medicine balls and their own body weight. The students will work on form running, speed and agility drills, plyometric drills, and core exercise. Stretching and flexibility will be daily staples in our program. The whole focus of this program is to introduce the students to the weight room, get them ready for their upcoming sports season, provide them with the opportunity to improve their physical conditioning level, provide them with a variety of ways to work on strength and speed, and to get them excited about training. We know that these students are still growing, so the whole focus is on technique, and improving their speed, agility, quickness, and conditioning level. Students will meet on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday for 8 weeks. Classes are hard work but enjoyable. The main focus of the class is to teach strength, endurance, coordination, balance, and overall mental and physical discipline. The class core curriculum consists of Kata, which are a series of techniques performed in sequence that contain the essence of Karate. There are also Bunkais, which are two-person drills where you actually learn to apply the techniques you perform in Kata. Finally, we do Kiso Kumite, which is a form of prearranged sparring where you once again perform your technique against a partner in a safe and controlled manner to grasp fully the application of a particular technique. Karate is a great way to improve your physical fitness as well as develop a stronger mind by continuing to push yourself to learn new skills. Great for adults who love to learn, want to stay in shape, and want to find a way to calm their minds. Also great for children ages seven and up to develop positive life-long habits. Okinawan Goju Ryu Karate is being taught by John Leddy, 7th Grade Latin Teacher at WCS. Mr. Leddy has been studying martial arts for the last seventeen years. He is currently a fourth degree black belt in Okinawan Goju Ryu Karate. He started his training in Tae Kwan Do at Wichita State University. After two years he began his study of Karate. He has been training in Karate for fifteen years now and has been teaching for thirteen of those years. 6000 6/3-8/9 3:30p-5:30p(M,T,Th) Age 7-Adult 9:30a-11:00a (Sat)
