Helley from School of Library and InformationScience in Wayne State University give an overview about the use of major socialnetworking tools in academic libraries in USA. The authors present the usage of socialnetworking in academic library focusing on the possibilities and the concern from bothstudent and librarian in order to enhance the library services. This article explained thefunctions and benefits of each social networking that suitable being used by the academiclibrary. This is good article to be read by student and also librarian in order to gainunderstanding about the roles of social networking in different views as the information portalbeside the library website itself. This will encourage grows of new excitement ways inretrieving the information.Within this article, the author stated the Social networking that widely used by student areFacebook, Myspace, Delicious, Blogs and Wikis, and this makes the librarian decided toinvolved the social networking to be apart in the library services. These social networkinghave their own specialities in conveying the information and services provided to be used bystudent and librarian. The librarian was found out the social networking are possible to useby the librarian and also to the student as the library services because of the easy handleand understand by the student and also the librarian to handle these networking sites. Fromwhat have been told in article, The social networking may develop student and facultycommunication and interaction to each other and they also may change and find informationfrom social networking besides sharing information between them, while for academiclibrary, they see this opportunity to enhance their services and also to develop new attractionto the library material or the building itself. The librarian also used social networking topromoting themselves to communities and also to encourage the library usage by facultyand student. In order to achieve that, the adding of librarian and collaboration with studentorganization can help towards the goals. Besides, it used to encourage the participationstudent in library use.
