I Drive Your Truck

The true story of a Medal of Honor winning Fort Drum soldier and his father inspires a No. 1 country music song
SFC Jared Monti of Fort Drums 10th Mountain Division gave his life after trying three times to save the life of a wounded comrade during a fierce battle in Afghanistan. His courage and valor earned him the Medal of Honor, the nations highest military decoration.

In a Memorial Day 2011 radio interview, Jareds father told how he continued to drive Jareds unkempt Dodge pickup as a tangible way of keeping his hero sons memory alive. The story inspired a song by country star Lee Brice, which climbed to the top of the country music chart.
This song is for all those Gold Star parents out there who drive their sons or daughters car, or hang on to their boots, or CDs or whatever else, to keep their memory alive. Its about the sacrifices of all the Gold Star families out there, Paul Monti told the Boston Herald.
