Caribbean Council for the Blind congratulates Senator Floyd Morris on his appointment as President of the Senate in Jamaica

St Johns Antigua - May 20, 2013: The Caribbean Council for the Blind (CCB)-Eye Care Caribbean, extends congratulations to the Honourable Senator Floyd Morris on his appointment as President of the Senate . His appointment came on the heels of the resignation of the Reverend Stanley Redwood, former President of the Senate. In expressing his delight at the appointment, Arvel Grant, Chief Executive Ofcer of the Caribbean Council For The Blind said "We note with interest that Senator Morris previously served as a Minister of State in a prior Peoples National Party(PNP) administration and have no doubt that his service to the Government and people, in that capacity, would have satised the Prime Minister and Government, that he has the requisite leadership qualities for his latest assignment. Mr. Morris continues to "break the glass ceiling" for persons with special needs, in that he is the rst person who is blind, to occupy the position of President of the Senate, in Jamaica. We believe that his accomplishment is a sure sign that the "Government and people of Jamaica have crossed the Rubicon in the acceptance of persons with disabilities, as equal and competent members of society. We are condent that he will be exemplary in executing his duties as President of The Upper House in Jamaica, Grant said.
