A thorough spring cleaning can take awhile, but you will feel fantastically free whenyou finish. Break up this detailed spring cleaning checklist and clean one room aday. Gather together cleaning supplies in a plastic bucket with a handle so it is easyto transport them from room to room as you work toward a fresh spring start.
 
 Turn off the power at the circuit breaker orfuse box. Empty freezer’s contents, discarditems past their prime and store food in acooler with ice packs. Wipe down freezerinterior with a solution of 2 tablespoonsbaking soda per 1 quart hot water todeodorize and clean thoroughly. Replacefood items and your baking soda containerin the freezer. Turn off the power at the circuit breaker orfuse box. Clean coils with vacuum creviceattachment. Remove food, discard expireditems, wipe down drips or messes and placeitems in a collar with ice packs. Wipe downinterior with a solution of 2 tablespoonsbaking soda per 1 quart hot water todeodorize and clean thoroughly. Replacefood items and baking soda container in therefrigerator.Work shelf by shelf to consolidate, donate,and throw away expired items.Shelf by shelf, donate items you no longeruse, discard broken items, and reshelf allothers.Drawer by drawer, donate items you nolonger use, discard broken items, and putback all others.After you wipe down the counters, rinse yoursponge and place it in the microwave. Pressstart and “cook” for 1 minute. In addition todisinfecting your sponge, the steam from thewet sponge helps loosen dirt in yourmicrowave. After, remove sponge and wipedown the interior with a damp Miracle cloth.Wipe hood with a damp Miracle cloth. Soakfilter on hot water with a dash of dishwashing liquid. Brush gently with aplastic brush to prevent scratching and todislodge greasyparticles. Rinse inhot water and drythoroughly beforereplacing.Check your ownermanual for cleaninginstructions.Check your owner manual for cleaninginstructions.Don’t forget airvents, sconces, lightswitches, door moldings, and doorknobs(vacuum floor airvents.)Wipe down slat blinds and send curtains anddraperies to the dry cleaners. Re-hang slatblinds and summer window treatments.Lightly steam in place if drapes have anywrinkles. Roll clean material around acid-free tubes, then wrap with a clean sheet of cotton muslin, secure with tape and labeleach bundle.With a brush attachment, vacuum the sill,the molding, and windowpanes. If dirtlingers, wipe clean with a damp Miraclecloth. Wash windows inside and out with a10 to 1 white vinegar water dilution; drywith a squeegee and follow with a dry cloth.Move appliances and vacuum and mop allhardwood, tile, and vinyl, floor surfaces witha

Mildly acidic white vinegar dissolves dirt, soap scum,and hard water deposits from smooth surfaces. Anatural deodorizer, white vinegar absorbs odorsinstead of covering them up.Make your own cleaning solution by mixing a 1:1white vinegar to water dilution and decant into spraybottle. In the bathroom, use vinegar spray cleaner toclean countertops, floors, and exterior toilet surfaces.
