This is what most voters are missing. They get fixated on the 3% and feel the teachers deserve that. OK, no debate there. But that is not what they get. I will present an example. A 10 year teacher with only a BA in the 2009/2010 school year. Base salary is $35,953. That figure gets multiplied by 1.45 for a total of $52,131.85. The following school year 2010/2011 the base salary is $37,032 and that 10 year teacher now has 11 years but still a BA. The $37,032 gets multiplied now by 1.51 for a total of $55,918.32. That amounts to a 7.26% raise for one year. Should that same teacher have added 9 graduate school credit hours during the year; the figure is multiplied by 1.53 for a total of $56,658.96 which represents a raise of 8.68%. People wake up. If that individual was working a 12 month job, that income would equate to $75,545.28. ($56,658.98 /9 = 6295.44 x 12)
