Navy SEAL's knife from raid that killed Osama bin Laden sells at auction for over $35000
By Daily Mail Reporter

A pocketknife used by a Navy SEAL during the raid that ended in the capture and death of Osama bin Laden has sold at auction for over $35,000. It was given to Matt Bissonnette by Emerson Knives eight years prior to the mission in Pakistan in 2011 that he took part in, helping ensure the demise of the worlds most notorious terrorist. Bissonnette recently donated his knife to a group called Combat Flip Flops that sells flip-flop style sandals and is looking for ways to move its manufacturing to Kabul, Afghanistan as a way to boost the countrys

economy in the wake of the American troop withdraw. I'm donating the knife because the owner of Combat Flip Flops is a friend, Bissonette wrote on 24fundraiser.com. And when he told me about this auction and all the good that the money raised was going to go towards, I wanted to help in any way that I could. Giving back to our community is very important to me and if donating this knife to charity helps with that process then I'm more than happy to do it! Bissonettes name, or his pseudonym Mark Owen, may sound familiar. As Owen, the former Navy SEAL

Alabamas shattered BCS crystal ball trophy fetches more than $100,000 at auction
By Frank Schwab

After this bit of news, every school that has a BCS crystal ball trophy will be "accidentally" knocking theirs on the ground and calling an auction to sell off the broken pieces. Last year, Alabama's crystal football for winning the title at the end of the 2011 season was broken. Carleton Tinker, the father of long snapper Carson Tinker, somehow knocked the ball off its stand. It fell to the floor and shattered. No big deal because insurance covered the cost to replace the trophy, which is valued at about $30,000 (keep this number in mind).

We're sure someone at Alabama, once the football was scooped into a dustpan and put into the Crimson Tide's most modestly priced receptacle, thought it would be funny to put the million pieces of broken glass into a bowl and sell it to the highest bidder. Maybe make a few bucks, have a laugh. Because, while it's kind of cool and certainly unique, who would buy such a thing? And then the shattered trophy sold for a reported $105,000, which is more than three times what the unbroken trophy is worth.

The 1967 Shelby Mustang GT 500, affectionately called 'Eleanor,' that was used during the filming of the hit 2001 film, 'Gone in 60 Seconds,' with Nicholas Cage, was sold at an auction on Saturday, May 18 for $1 million. The mustang was sold during the 26th Dana Mecum Original Spring Classic Collection in Indianapolis, according to Fox News. This car began a modern day Eleanor restomod craze and was offered directly from the builder at the original, best and largest muscle car auction, The Mustang News reports. Eleven of the fictional Eleanor cars were created for the movie and two of them were not working cars and were destroyed during the film, according to Fox News. This $1 million dollar beauty, however, was Nicholas Cage's primary vehicle used for close-ups, posters and promotions. Eleanor is a modified version of the 1967 Ford Mustang and it was designed by Chip Foose and built by Cinema Vehicle services, according to Potins News. Despite it's allure, however, this car is not actually an original car that was built by Shelby in the late 1960s. The body pieces of the GT500 were mocked up on a Mustang using clay and wood and then molds were then made to pro

duce a new fiberglass front end filled with high-powered PIAA driving lights, new fender flares, side skirts and scoops, hood and trunk lid. It also had a 400 horsepower 351 Ford crate engine and a manual transmission. Some internal features of the mustang included an Autometer Sport Comp Monster tach, fire extinguisher, iconic Go-Baby-Go shift knob button for Line Lock and a switch for activating a nitrous injection system A certificate of authenticity and a special plaque that includes a VIN were included in the sale from the company responsible for building it, Potins News reports. This is the second time that this particular kind of Eleanor mustang has come up for sale in the last five years and it is possible for such a car to be recreated using a 1967 restoration shell. Clones of this car tend to only get sold for about $150-200,000 at auction, however, 'Eleanor' fetched a lot more due to her more genuine and original nature, The Mustang News reports. No information about the new owner is currently known, World Car Fans reports.

License to Shill: Unearthed 'Thunderball' James Bond Wristwatch Expected to Fetch $90K
By Mike Krumboltz | Movie Talk

The famed 'Thunderball' watch is seen here (Photo: Everett Collection)(Photo: Christie's)The Breitling Top Time, worn by Sean Connery in the 1965 James Bond adventure "Thunderball," is going up for sale at Christie's auction house. It's expected to go for about $90,000. More amazing than the expected price is the manner in which the watch was discovered. The U.K.'s Independent reports that several years ago, a bargain hunter spotted the timepiece at a yard sale. It was purchase for less than $40. The buyer, who asked Christie's to remain anonymous, knew the watch was worth something but had no idea just how much, according to the U.K.'s Telegraph. An expert examined the find and confirmed that it was the same

wristwatch agent 007 wore in his battle against the evil organization SPECTRE in "Thunderball." It had been missing for many years. The Telegraph reports the watch "is thought to have been passed on by someone who worked at Pinewood Studios where the film was shot." The watch played a pivotal role in the action flick. After being modified by gadget guru "Q," the Breitling was able to act as a kind of geiger counter and detect nuclear radiation. It helped Bond track down the missing warheads and (spoiler alert!) save the day. Wanna feel like 007 whenever anybody asks you the time? Start saving your pennies. The Christie's auction is set for next month.

Star Wars hero Luke S k y w a l k er' s pants could fetch $100k at auction
F r o m : AFP- The pants worn by actor M a r k Hamill in the first, Oscar-winning Star Wars film are being sold at auction and could go for up to $US100,000, auctioneers announced Monday. The young Jedi Knight wore the sand-colored regular Levi's pants throughout the 1977 movie. The pants will be put up for auction today, with an estimated sale price of $70,000-$100,000. "It's hard to believe now, but Star Wars in 1977 was not a 'go' from the start. Several studios passed on making it. But now, we look back on it, over 35 years later, and it's the 3rd highest grossing movie of all time." The original movie, which launched the career of a young Harrison Ford, was soon followed by the equally popular The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Return of the Jedi (1983). In the late 1990s, Lucas drew mixed reviews when he resurrected the blockbuster series with a prequel trilogy: The Phantom Menace (1999), The Attack of the Clones (2002) and The Revenge of the Sith (2005).

Trove of Gretzky memorabilia set for auction

The Gretzky of Gretzky collectors ready to sell trove of items that brought him closer to game
Associated Press - FORT MCMUR-

RAY, Alberta (AP) -- It started almost two decades ago with a $20 hockey stick once wielded by a forgotten player for a string of mediocre teams. It ends at the auction block this week when millions of dollars are likely to c h a n g e hands. This may be the w o r l d ' s l a r g e s t game-worn collection of memorabilia from the world's best player from the sport's last dynasty. Shawn Chaulk owns a hoard of everything Wayne Gretzky. He says it's all for a singular cause that only a full-blooded hockey lover can savor. "When you're a fan, fans are usually at a distance," he recently told The Canadian Press in the basement office of his home in Fort McMurray. The space is a forest of game-used Gretzky hockey sticks, a dressing room of game-worn Gretzky jerseys and a trainer's bag full of assorted pucks, gloves, helmets and skates all touched, used and sweated in by the Great One himself. "You love the game. You love the athletes, at a distance. At best, you get to attend an event and see them in person. Again, from a distance. And that's as close as we get. This was all to help me get closer to the game."

The online auction begins Friday.through Montreal's Classic Auctions. Among the of hundreds of items on sale are: the puck Gretzky shot to score his 500th goal, as well as the jersey and skates he was wearing at the time. gloves and helmets worn during Stanley Cup victories and regular-season games. skates replete with scuffs and repairs. Gretzky's early-1980s Oilers Nike track suit. No. 99 practice jersey. Gretzky-used equipment bag. Chaulk, however, will not be entirely stripped of his Gretzky trove after the auction. Here's what he's not selling: a stick from Gretzky's first pro team, the World Hockey Association's Indianapolis Pacers, on which the equipment manager stamped the name "Gretsky." the jersey Gretzky wore during the entire 1981-82 season in which, as an Edmonton Oiler, he compiled more than 200 points and broke Phil Esposito's scoring record of 77 goals in one season. replica Stanley Cups once owned by former Oilers owner Peter Pocklington, who is reviled for trading Gretzky to the Los Angeles Kings in 1988. the jersey Gretzky wore the infamous night in 1986, when, in a division final against Calgary, Steve Smith scored in his own net to eliminate the Oilers from the playoffs.

JK Rowling's Annotated Copy Of First Harry Potter Novel Up For Auction

The novel that changed the lives of stars such as JK Rowling, Danielle Radcliffe and Emma Watson is up for sale in its most original form. Harry Potter and the Philospher's Stone, published in 1997, is having its First Edition re-released in the name of charity, complete with Rowling's own hand-written notes. It also includes 22 illustrations of its scenes and characters, and is all on one of only 500 First Edition prints. Annotations in Philosopher's Stone include: "Perhaps Hufflepuff house would have the respect it deserves from fans if I'd stayed with my original idea of a bear to represent it?" She also reveals: "I wrote the book ... in snatched hours, in clattering cafes or in the dead of night. For me, the story of how I wrote Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone is written invisibly on every page, legible only to me." The book series took off in the late 90s and early 00s, spanning seven books altogether and then eight films. Daniel Radcliffe played the titular character, with Rupert Grint as Ron Weasley and Emma Watson as Hermione Granger. The novels have sold more than 400 million copies worldwide.
