Dear Colleagues and Friends,Welcome to Kurdistan and to the 2nd Scientic World KurdishCongress (WKC2012) at the Saad Palace Convention Centerin Erbil. As the Kurdistan Region undergoes signicant economic andpolitical shifts, it will be increasingly placed at the center stage of Middle East affairs—socially, economically and politically. Manycountries in the region, such as Turkey which aims to become amember of the European Union, have recognized that in order tomove towards strong and sustainable economic growth, progressivesocieties need to also be democratic societies that recognizeminorities’ rights. This equation must include the Kurdish populationin the region. A growing awareness of the importance of health promotion, alongwith the pressing need to invest in healthy and sustainable public,social, institutional and domestic development infrastructures for itspeople, is placing Kurdistan in the forefront of Middle East businessand development opportunities. At this moment, Kurdistan is poisedupon the leading edge of change. The unique scientic focus of this Congress will offer delegatesinnovative and stimulating topics during a broad range of plenarysessions. As well, posters of the latest innovations and solutions inmany elds will provide a unique opportunity for organizations anddelegates to network.Sessions are to include presentations by physicians as well aspsychologists, architects, social planners, sociologists, agronomists,medical professionals, economists and political scientists. Ourspeakers will bring a wide range of perspectives on how to bestserve our people and society with denable evidence and ascientic approach as Kurdistan continues its major developmentalphase. The rich selection of conference sessions will highlight theimportance and value of interdisciplinary presentations by Kurdishand non-Kurdish scientists from all over the world.
Welcome to the 2nd Scientic World Kurdish Congress organized in partnership with the KurdistanRegional Government (KRG) October 11-15th in Erbil. The goal of the WKC 2012 is targeted andover-arching: to further discuss cutting edge scientic, economic, cultural and health programs thatwill provide a solid foundation for all future, professional and scientic expansion within Kurdistan.
 Topics to be addressed at the Congress will include the latestresearch ndings in the eld: health and medical science, agriculture,higher education, economics, politics, human rights, sustainable,healthy development and the infrastructure necessary to support theKurdistan Regional Government in its mission. The high quality of scientic research, as well as a fascinating rangeof case studies and cultural programs, ensures that participants willenjoy a unique, knowledge enhancing experience.We appreciate your effort participating in the 2nd Scientic WorldKurdish Congress.
