SOPHOMORE COLLEGEVISITATION DAY
All sophomores will be visiting a collegecampus, April 17, 2009, receiving a tour andgroup information session and have discussionswith students, faculty and admissionsrepresentatives.
WINTER COLORGUARD TEAM
On Saturday, March 7, 2009 the Wareham HighSchool Winter Color guard Team held a NESBA(New England Scholastic Band Association)Home Show Competition. We had 23Schools/teams attend this event from all overNew England. Our team placed first in theredivision! They performed flawlessly that night!We couldn’t have asked for a better job done bythe girls. They had a great performance that wasended by a standing ovation.

AUTISM AWARENESS
Mrs. Cavicchi and Mrs. White are working onways to help inform staff and students aboutautism. There is a contest for students, with achance to win a $25.00 gift-certificate. Thestudents need to write an essay or create a posterabout autism that is fact-based and includes theirthoughts about what would be the most difficultthing about being autistic. The entries are dueApril 17

, and will be judged then displayedthroughout the school. Some teachers havealready decided to give extra-credit to studentswho enter the contest.
DRESS CLOSET
Members of the community and surroundingtowns generously donated 387 dresses to theProm Closet located at Wareham High School.The dress drive was held at the Old CompanyStore, and the closet is run by WomenAde of Wareham. The purpose of the closet is to provideformal and semi-formal dresses to studentswho need or want them. It is a way for studentsto have the luxury of a beautiful dress withoutthe financial burden. The dresses are available toany student who wants to use them. The onlyrequirements that students need to have thedresses cleaned before they return them to thehigh school. We also have various couponsavailable to help defray the cost of prom-relatedthings. For more information, pleasecontact Marie Cavicchi or Kelli White at WHS.

MA DECA Career DevelopmentConference held at the Copley hotel in BostonWareham was awarded this prestigious award.The trophy will be housed at Wareham HighSchool for one year. Wareham DECArepresented their town, school, chapter, familiesand themselves in a phenomenal manner.Simply said… They did us proud.

CANS ACROSS THE TRACK
A canned food drive for Damien’s, Council onAging and Turning Point was held April 4, 2009at the track. The goal is to collect 1000 items inthree hours for the needy of Wareham. April 4

 we collected cans form 9am to 12pm for thelocal food pantries, Damian’s Food Pantry,Senior Center, and Turning Point. We workedwith The Boys and Girls Club director, BarbaraSullivan. We collected 264 cans from can soupto bottled juice to macaroni and cheese. The restof the month we are collecting food here and atThe Boys and Girls Club to increase the amount.There is a plastic can outside the club if anyonewants to donate, or they can give it to LisaOhman and Kim Scott. We had 12 studentsparticipate who held signs, and billboards, alsostudents stood on the street corners to get peopleto stop. Thanks to Mrs. Franklin and Mrs.Cavicchi who stopped by.
