I've never heard
any
more about this pilot transmission, and the controllers were warned to keep silent once the CSM storyappeared. But they could be subpoenaed. Here is what is known:Shortly after FAA air traffic controllers in Nashua, NH failed to get a response from Fl
11,
one of crew, theypresumeapilot, activatedthe"pushtotalk" radio microphoneon the"wheel"of theaircraft, andsurreptitiouslytried to signal to authorities that plane had been violently overtaken. By using the button of the radio microphone, which allows pilots to have their hands on the controls while communicating, the controllers said, he was able toallow them to hear much of what was said and other noises in the cockpit.
The
pilot's voice and the heavily accented voice of a hijacker were clearly audible
It
was the interpretation of the listening controllers that the pilot was in the driver's seat much of the way to theplane's deadly end point.TheNYT got
partial
transcripts of the communications between pilots and controllers on all 4 planes and reported
(Oct
16, 2001)thatacontroller heardanunidentified voice from cockpitof Fl 11say:"Wehave some planes. Just
stay
quiet
and
you'll
be
O.K.
We are
returning
to the
airport."
The
controller, confused, said
"
Who's trying
to
call
me?" No response. Then the same ME voice: "Nobody move
please;
we are going back to the airport. Don't tryto make any stupid moves."
All
of it
this
was recorded by a Federal Aviation Administration
traffic-control
center. Federal law-enforcement officials arrived at the flight-control
facility
minutes after Flight11crashed into the World Trade Center and took the tape.Another, simultaneous sign of a
multiple
hijacking was picked up by United Airlines Flight 175, which
left
Boston
for
LA at8:14am.Just afterittook off,the airtraffic controllerhadaskedforhelp from other pilotsinfinding flight
11,
which was already missing.
"Weheard a suspicious transmission on our departure from BOS," the pilot reported just after
takekoff.
"soundslike someone keyed the mike and said everyone stay in your seats."
Tapes
were also made by FAA flight controllers in Indianapolis, and between FAA and the Pentagon, NORAD
and
Secret Service. Have theseFAAflight controller tapes been turned overto thecommission? Haveany of thevictim's families demanded their righttohear them?
Finally,
the facts surrounding the last
flight,
United #93, are the most mysterious and heavily guarded. At 9:30
am,
six minutes
after
receiving orders from NORAD, three F16's were airborne, aceto NORAD's timeline. At firs,
the
planes were directed toward new York and probably reached 600 mph within two minutes,
ace
to Maj.General Mike J. Haugen, adjutant general of the North Dakota National Guard. Then they were vectored west andgivena new flight target: Reagan National airport. The
pilots
heard over their headsets that the FAA had ordered
all
civilian aircrafttoland. Then they heardanominous squawk overthe
plane's
transponder, acode thatindicates almost an emergency wartime footing. Gen. Haugen says the F-16s were asked to confirm that thePentagon was on
fire.
The lead flier looked down and confirmed the worst. Then the pilots received the most surreal order of the morning. Accroding to Gen Haugen, "A person came on theradio and identified themselves as being with the Secret Service, and he said
'I
want you to protect the WhiteHouse
at all costs.'"Now,
it gets really vague... Here is the NORAD official timeline:Airline Impact Time (Pentagon) 0937(estimated)
