AYURVEDIC PERSPECTIVE
In Ayurveda Headache is known as Shiro Rogaor shirah shula. In ayurveda headache is acomplex disorder which can be caused bymany factors.Though ayurveda considers pain is mainlyvitiation of the vata dosha, but vitiation of thepitta and kapha doshas can also causeheadaches. Ayurveda defines the chiefsymptoms of the three different doshic types ofheadaches. In Vata type of headache the painwill be intermittent. Patient will be affected withconstipation, insomnia and depression. Thesepains are compounded by mental tensions.Inother Dosha types of Headache the pain will beusually felt on half of the head, accompaniedby a burning sensation and wateriness in theeyes.Ayurveda deals with the root cause of adisease. There may be many factors involved ina headache, so understanding the cause andcuring it is the way of ayurveda to alleviateheadaches.
