 PREFACE
One of most difficult questions for an author - after conceiving its book, evidently- is to choose a title that is capable to synthecize his main contributions. At the timethat we searched a title for this book, coincided that we studied - in self-taught way -the history of art and in we discovered the painting “From where we came, what weare and for where we go”, of Paul Gauguin. We observe that the artists had theinterest on these questions, contrasting with the disinterest, contemporary, on thepart of whom call theirselves as philosophers: certain time, we testify a professor ofPhilosophy – at least, he was formally philosopher - that, answered to a pupil, for whothe philosophy had to search to answer the questions as “Who we are”, saying that ifsomebody will have doubt on this, would have to look a psychologist. However, forhim, doctor with many others, in more famous universities of world, this question,proper of philosophy, now, belonged to a science! We do not to think this subject,here, but we intend to present arguments that will show that we do not haveguarantee of, when going to a psychologist or a psychiatrist, that they will have adefinitive reply on “what we are?”; therefore they just will reproduce the dogmas thatwas taught to them. These professionals remember me to confessionals priests orthen those beverages that after opened to seem extraordinary, but they do not passof water with sugar! When I sent my thesis on “duration” for doctors in Psychology, Ireceived bureaucratic answers: or he was specialist in other areas, despite he haswritten an article on the perception of time, or, then, he advised to me to read morearticles of Psychology, incapable to present despite contraries arguments of ideasthat I had presented to them.But, I am not defending that Psychology and, also, Psychiatry are useless areasof knowledge; what we are saying is that, today, they had lost the focus: or theyargue using false beliefs (when they say that the sex is for backwards of all ouractions), or they only see solution for our problems giving drugs to its patients. Whatthe neuron lacks to them is a look more detailed for inside of mind human being with

more advanced technologies to know neuron until knowing accurately where they areour problematic memories, as it makes the telescope Hubble with the galaxies!The Philosophy that was forgotten is that one where the masters stimulated thedisciples to have proper ideas and arguments and not this sad monologous that itpractises today. It was forgotten, also, that the exercise of Philosophy is only capableto extend our capacity of perception, when is awake in us the satisfaction to lookanswers to the causes of our actions and the facts of world. Current education forgotthis: teachers demand that the pupils “save” the teses of ancient philosophers and donot doubt their truths, repeating the existing and barren theses, as parrots, opposingthe well-known phrase of Aristotle: “the truth was above of friendship”! They arefriends of philosophy, sympathetical of teses and the thinkers, but they are not friendsof wisdom and the search for the truth; they believe already to have discovered it.They look at only for the past, as somebody that drive a car only looking at for behind.But who will write the future theories? What it happens is that wrong people - thatpossess, as we will see more ahead, neuron connections that lead them to make,fastly, part of a group, a philosophical school, accepting the theses as definitivetruths, without any critical sense - are occupying the place of people adjusted for thefunction! Well appropriate the critics of Jean Piaget in book: “Problems of philosophy”,when he relembered the malaise that he felt in the metaphysics classes that they didnot lead to no conclusion, because there is in the French universities (and, also, inBrazil) a “gerontocracy” that chooses who goes to substitute a professor to the evesof retirement, but, also, we add, who choose those that more resembles to hismasters for obtaining a vacant in some research! It was because of this sad picture,that we do not carry through after-graduation in Philosophy - nor master, nordoctorade. And without master title we was four years unemployed since we left touniversity untill to be admitted in a public high school.Unfortunately, we live in a world where the form is thought to be superior to theparts, a book is measured for its layer and the people, for their headings, not for theeffective knowledge! The burocracy, also, is another plague that makes us to feelinside labyrinth without Ariadne’s thread and despite we did all right, they will findsome mistake, because they didn’t give all information needed: people who nothing
